About the Author

Luis de Gongora was born in 1561 in Cordoba. He made his reputation with two major works, the "Fabula de Polifemo y Galatea" and the "Soledades". He was forced to move in search of patronage to Madrid, where his finances and health worsened. He suffered a stroke in 1626 and died a year later in Cordoba.
