Imre Makovecz

and the Hungarian Organic Architecture

The first time I met Makovecz, he drew me a map of Hungary, marking the most significant places through which I could get closer to his work. With the promise that I would return, we said goodbye. From this map, my research began.

About the Author

Martina Giustra (Catania, 1985). As an architect, since 2007 she carries out research on the thought and works of the Master Imre Makovecz and Hungarian organic architecture. After some experiences abroad and brief collaborations within the University she decided to settle in Budapest, where she is attending the Vandoriskola, post-graduate school founded by Imre Makovecz, Miklos Kampis and Istvan Kalman in 1989, working at architectural firms connected to it. Between 2012 and 2014 she has been engaged in research activity at the Department of Residential Design in the Faculty of Architecture at BME Polytechnic University of Budapest (Budapesti Muszaki es Gazdasagtudomanyi Egyetem) and at Balassi Institute of Budapest (Budapesti Balassi Intezet). Between 2013 and 2014 she carried out research activity at Makona kft. Currently she is involved in design projects and she collaborates with other specialists for analysis and support of the emerging Hungarian design. She also collaborates with some journals and web platforms.
