Anvil New Poets, Volume 2

The second volume of this occasional series introduces another nine talented newcomers. The variety of poetic voices and themes on display reflects backgrounds which range from Scotland to Bristol and from gardening to rock bands. Many have been published in magazines or have already won awards; all are passionately involved with poetry. Together they convey the excitement, skill and richness to be found in British poetry today. Poets included:

About the Author

Kate Clanchy was born in Glasgow in 1965 and was educated at Exeter College, Oxford. She lives in London and works as a teacher and freelance journalist. Her short story "Boom" was awarded a prize in the 1993 London Arts Board competition. Her poem Men was specially commended in the 1994 Arvon International Poetry Competition. She receivged an Eric Gregory Award in 1994.

Sean Boustead was born in 1969. He studied English and European Modern Literature at the University of Essex and now lives in Cheshire. He edits the poetry magazine Walking Naked and enjoys fell-walking. Like many recent graduates, he has worked at a number of occupations from teacher to pizza chef and now hopes to pursue a career in accountancy. His poems have been published in Envoi and Agenda, as well as Walking Naked.

Colette Bryce is a poet, freelance writer and editor. She was a Fellow in Creative Writing at the University of Dundee from 2003–2005, and a North East Literary Fellow at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne 2005–2007. She was the Poetry Editor of Poetry London 2009-2013.
