Intellect is an independent academic publishing house that specializes in books on creative practice and popular culture. It declares that its mission is to not only to promote original thinking by publishing unique books and journals but also to create a space for wider critical debate in the new and emerging subject areas. Intellect cooperates closely with its authors and they put great emphasis on representing the author’s voice authentically and on actually campaigning for the author not just producing another book.
Intellect publishes works in four main fields: visual arts, film studies, cultural and media studies and performing arts with special interest in areas such as photography, drawing, gaming and scenography.
The University of Chicago Press distributes Intellect books worldwide.
