About the Author

Andrew Wilson is a Senior Policy Fellow at the European Council on Foreign Relations, and Reader in Ukrainian Studies at the School of Slavonic and East European Studies, University College London. He has published widely on the politics of Eastern Europe, including "The Ukrainians" (now in its third edition), "Ukraine's Orange Revolution", "Virtual Politics: Faking Democracy in the Post-Soviet World" (the latter two joint winners of the Alexander Nove Prize in 2007) and "Belarus: The Last European Dictatorship", all four books published by Yale UP. His publications at the European Council on Foreign Relations include "The Limits of Enlargement-Lite: European and Russian Power in the Troubled Neighbourhood", and "Meeting Medvedev: The Politics of the Putin Succession".
